AI Girlfriend Apps on iPhone and Android

Search the App Store for the platforms on our index and you will mostly find nothing, or a censored shell with a similar name. That is not a gap in the market. Apple and Google both prohibit pornographic content in their stores, and an adult companion app cannot comply and remain the product people signed up for, so operators ship to the browser instead. What you get instead is a progressive web app: a site engineered to install to your home screen, launch without browser furniture and behave like an app. In daily use the difference is small — the chat interface, images and voice all work the same way — and the install takes about fifteen seconds on either platform.

Open the platform in Safari, not in an in-app browser and not in Chrome, because on iOS the Add to Home Screen behaviour lives in Safari's share sheet. Tap the Share button, scroll the list, choose Add to Home Screen, then edit the name before you confirm. That name is what appears under the icon on your springboard, and nothing forces it to match the brand.

Log in once from the installed icon. Sessions are stored per context, so signing in inside Safari does not always carry over to the home-screen instance, and the most common complaint about web-app installs is a login prompt people assume is a bug. It is not: log in from the icon and it persists.

Two things to know afterwards. Notifications are less reliable than a native app, since a web app cannot run in the background the way an installed binary can. And clearing Safari data can log you out, which is worth remembering if you clear history routinely for the reasons most readers here do.

Chrome makes this easier. Open the site, tap the three-dot menu, and choose Install app or Add to Home screen depending on what the platform declares. Android treats the result as closer to a real app than iOS does: it appears in your launcher, can appear in the app switcher separately, and gets a more capable notification path.

The trade-off is that Android's version being more app-like also makes it more visible. It may show up in your app drawer and in some system settings lists, so if the point of using a web app was discretion, check your launcher afterwards rather than assuming. Renaming during install works here too on most builds.

Android also permits sideloading APKs, and some platforms offer one. We would not, unless you already trust the operator completely: an APK gets far broader access to your device than a browser tab, and the whole reason web delivery is comfortable for adult platforms is that a tab is a small blast radius.

The losses are real but narrow. Background notifications are unreliable, especially on iOS. Biometric locking is not available on most platforms, so anyone with your unlocked phone has your conversations. Offline behaviour is nonexistent, though for a product that needs a model on a server that hardly matters. Performance is fine for chat and adequate for generation, with image-heavy interfaces asking more of a small screen than chat-led ones do.

The gains are underrated. No store account is involved, so nothing appears in your purchase history and no receipt lands in your email from a company whose name you would rather not see there. There is no entry in an app library that syncs across your devices. Uninstalling is removing an icon. The install flow gives you one free win: rename the icon to something boring before confirming. That single step defeats most casual glances, which is the actual threat model for most people rather than anything sophisticated.

Beyond that, the risks are ordinary browser risks. History and autocomplete will suggest the site, so use the installed icon rather than typing the URL. Screenshots go to your camera roll and sync to whatever your camera roll syncs to. Autoplaying voice notes are louder than any notification, which is why headphones matter more here than privacy settings do. All ten platforms on our index are web-delivered, so all ten work on both iPhone and Android — the question is only how well the interface behaves at phone size. Chat-first products handle it best, since a conversation is a conversation on any screen.
